Well mark it in your calendar---this run was the closest I've been to quitting a race. My ankle has been acting up for the last couple months, along with my calves and shins so I was a little nervous for this run but I stilled signed up for this to see how it would go...and it went...good....bad....painful....fun!!! not quite sure. I am still walking so I guess that is a good sign! :) The race was up the Provo Canyon trail. We started at the newer park at the mouth of the canyon, ran up 3.1 miles, turned around and then ran back down to the park. Around mile 2 is when my foot started going numb, I think my ankle problem is causing this. My calves and shins were not to bad today it was mainly my foot and ankle that were giving me problems. I stopped a few times to adjust my shoes, loosening the laces so blood could flow through my foot better. I saw my parents at mile 3 and then again at mile 4, which is where I really wanted to stop and quit...they were there with their car. I only had 2 miles left and I knew I would regret it if I did stop. The last two miles actually felt the best. My ankle stopped hurting and I could feel my foot again, it was no longer numb. I think the last adjustment I made on my laces really helped. I finished the run feeling pretty good. The most frustrating part about this race was the fact that endurance wise I was great, I felt great, my breathing was great, I had enough energy for the run, it was only my foot and ankle that held me back. I don't know what my time was, I was wearing my gps watch so I could track it, but unfortunately when I got to the end it was not correct, somewhere along the way it must have lost the satellite. I think my time will be posted online in the next day or so..but really, I'd rather not know on this race!!!

That sucks about your legs hurting! What is the deal? Hopefully this week of rest will help. Good job on finishing though. I would have given up for sure! :)
